Your weekly social scoop 🔮

Hi CCs,

My job is to be on social which in this political climate as a queer person can make me feel like this about 95% of the time:

… but I recently purchased this Smart Productivity Timer to try to fight my doom scroll demons with dedicated time blocking towards being on social only for research purposes and not until my eyes bleed. It just got delivered so I’ll let you know how it goes.

Do you have helpful mental health-meets-productivity tips that have changed your life? Reply to this email and let me know!

Ok, let’s get into it.

But first, a note from Beyond Meat whom you should be following on Threads:

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang's vision for the future

On Cleo Abrams’ show, Huge if True, she interviews Jensen about AI, DeepSeek, NVIDIA and more to give us the big picture (and to start from the beginning).

Is internet-induced brain rot a myth?

DAZED: Over the last few years, there has been a growing consensus that the internet is rotting our brains, but scientists now argue that there’s not enough evidence to back up that claim.

“In 2023, Przybylski and his colleagues analysed data from almost 12,000 children in the US, aged between nine and 12, and found no link between screen time and brain connectivity or well-being. ‘If you publish a study like we do, where we cross our Ts, dot our Is, state our hypotheses before we see the data, and share the data and code, those types of studies don’t show the negative effects people expect.’”

Your brand is a Pinterest board

Marketer Gosha Dolgun on how the greatest creators build the vision that they can rely on every single day. “This is my take on brand consistency, density and of course, the general review of brand aesthetics. Every large brand has a feel to their own aesthetic, so maybe it is time to develop yours for your personal or company brand.”

In 2024, fandom conquered the world

From MAGA to Moo Deng, fans had more power in 2024 than ever before.

“When catching up on world events coincides with catching up on what Chappell Roan wore onstage last night, it makes sense that both forms of community engagement would live on equal footing.” — Angela Watercutter, WIRED's senior editor for culture

🤳 Content Inspo

Try a stitch video that leans into humor. [LINK]
A LED sign factory named LC-lightbox is doing this very well. Their Instagram is led by a guy named Tony who has become known for doing stitch-style video content where the intro is taken from another video. These are working well right now and, as Tony demonstrates, can easily become a series.

Experiment with a skit centered on your professional tasks as a fresh take on behind-the-scenes content. [LINK]
Real estate broker Ryan Serhant has started a new series called ‘Today’s Fires’ where his assistant comes into his office and they go through a series of issues Ryan needs to address. This is a fun way to give people a glimpse into your life and also poke fun at various aspects of your job.

Show off your creative process and services. [LINK]
Instead of just filming a video outlining the steps of your process, help us visualize it as a potential client. Seventh House Marketing does a great job with the format “If I had a XYZ client, these are some of the content ideas I’d include in the audit.” Not only are we inspired and feel like she gave us a lot of value, but it helps understand what you’d get out of an audit if you hired them and I’m sure this post earned some inbound leads. This style can be adapted for both B2B and D2C brands in different ways.

The trend is to the tune of audio from Bella Hadid’s Vogue interview, but you can expand on this if desired to make it relevant. Show what’s in your bag and tag the brands you own/love/have partnerships with and make sure to include at least one of your own products if relevant.
